Officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to a business in the 1500 block of Opossumtown Pike around noon on Saturday, Feb. 8, for a reported theft in progress.
When officers arrived, they found the suspect in a nearby parking lot, where a witness identified the juvenile as the shoplifter, police said.
During the arrest, officers discovered a loaded 9mm Glock 19 handgun concealed in the suspect’s jacket, along with ammunition.
The juvenile was taken into custody and placed with the Department of Juvenile Services.
Charges include:
- Theft under $100;
- Possession of a firearm by a minor;
- Loaded handgun on person;
- Handgun on person;
- Illegal possession of ammunition;
- Regulated firearm – illegal possession.
“This arrest highlights the Frederick Police Department’s ongoing efforts to remove illegal firearms from the streets and hold those unlawfully in possession of weapons accountable,” officials said.
